Pediatric Restorative Dentistry 1st ed. 2019 Edition

This book describes and discusses the different restorative options for managing carious lesions in children with primary and mixed dentition. The aim is to provide practitioners with thorough, up-to-date information that will improve their clinical practice. The opening chapters present a comprehensive overview regarding diagnosis of carious lesions, risk assessment, child behavior and development, and behavioral management. The importance of oral health promotion and prevention in controlling lesion progression and maintaining oral health is reviewed. The impact of various factors on clinician decision making is then explained in detail, examples including the type of dentition (primary versus permanent), the clinical and radiographic aspect of the dentine carious lesion (noncavitated or cavitated), and whether the lesion is associated with a developmental defect. Guidance is provided on selection of nonoperative versus operative interventions, and the restorative materials most frequently used in pediatric dentistry are fully described, highlighting their advantages and disadvantages. Readers will also find an informative series of cases, with explanation of the choices in terms of materials and approach.

PLANETS OF ORTHODONTICS: ADULTS AND COMPLEX CASES IN ORTHODONTICS: Planet Uranus/ Volume 7 by Dr. Mohammed Almuzian (Author), Dr. Haris Khan (Author), Dr. Ali Raza Jaffery (Author), Dr. Farooq Ahmed (Author) Preface Questions expose our uncertainty, and uncertainty has been our motive. The authors and contributors have aggre-gated the final volume of this book in answer to questions covering the breadth and depths of orthodontics. This volume covers the management of adults and complex cases in orthodontics, which requires enormous skills and knowledge; some even consider this field as a subspecialty. Therefore, the theme of this chapter is Uranus, who was initially thought to be an independent star. The writing of the book started with the amalgamation of orthodontic notes and the experience of the primary two authors, Dr Mohammed Almuzian and Dr Haris Khan; it organically grew with input from other authors who helped in proofreading, summarising the key points of each chapter, and implementing the ‘exam night review’ section. There have been numerous contributors to this book; we seek to acknowledge them, as, without each contributor’s efforts, this book would have been nothing more than an interesting idea and a ‘what if’. Promoting Oral Health. the Use of Salt Fluoridation to Prevent Dental Caries

A new book from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) shows how salt fluoridation has proven to be one of the most cost-effective public health interventions in history and shows countries how to implement programs of their own. Promoting Oral Health: The Use of Salt Fluoridation to Prevent Dental Caries was written by Saskia Estupiñán-Day, head of PAHO's Oral Health Program. The book traces the history of salt fluoridation, first used in Switzerland in the 1950s and later elsewhere in Europe and the Americas. It explains why the practice is better suited to countries in Latin America and the Caribbean than fluoridation of water. Experience has shown that putting fluoride in salt can reduce dental caries by as much as 84 percent at a cost of 6 cents per person per year. The practice is extremely cost effective, saving an average of $250 per person per year in dental treatment for every $1 spent. It is also highly equitable, benefiting equally rich and poor, young and old, urban and rural dwellers, those with access to professional dental services and those without. The book provides step-by-step guidance on how to plan, promote, launch, operate, monitor and evaluate salt fluoridation programs. It discusses in detail how the salt industry operates, including its manufacturing and marketing practices, and shows how to win the industry's cooperation. The book also provides blueprints for legislation, epidemiological surveillance, and biological monitoring that are necessary for carrying out successful programs. The publication was funded by the Kellogg Foundation, which has supported salt fluoridation efforts throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.
